Anyone else excited for the Super Bowl this weekend? I love any reason to get together with family and friends. And of course any reason to craft up some party decorations!
I have some new Super Bowl party ideas up over at the Fiskars site here.
Including ways to keep the kids occupied during the big game.
And other ways to add sporty fun to game day!

It's time to think about Valentine's Day, which has to be the cutest holiday!
Today I'm sharing a step-by-step tutorial and free printable over at the Basic Grey blog for making easy bobby pins to add to Valentines. You can view it here.
And for more Valentine inspiration, all of my previous Valentine posts can be found here.
Winter Wonderland is a fun theme for any winter party, from birthdays to showers to classroom parties. And a hot chocolate bar is not only delicious, but decorative! Even if it doesn't snow where you live, you can still have fun with a faux winter wonderland. =)
I've come up with some fun ways to add cute touches to your winter party and sharing them over at Fiskars here.
... including updating some classics with Fiskars-style!
You can find full photos and directions here.
And if you if you are looking for a wintery gift to give, here's a fun way to give hot chocolate on a smaller scale.
And lastly, you can check out more of my snowflake posts here.
Happy New Year! Well, in a few days =).
I created these 3D paper numbers for fun, last-minute decorations for the New Year. Make them for a party or festive home decor. Get the free, printable template and full directions over at the BasicGrey blog here.
(These numbers will also work well for graduation parties in 2013!)
You can view a couple of my older New Year's Eve parties here ...
...and here.
Hope you have a happy and healthy 2013!
During the craziness of the holiday season, it can be quite therapeutic to stop and do a little crafting, especially when it's useful! These clay gift tags are very easy and fun to make.
They add a homemade feel to any gift and might be found hanging on the recipient's tree for years to come. Find my full tutorial over at Fiskars here.
The gift tags were inspired by the jewelry dishes I made a few years back, which would also be a fun Christmas gift to give to someone special! You can find my full Fiskars tutorial for the jewelry dishes here.
And if you are looking for more last minute handmade gift and packaging inspiration, here is an online class with a fun collection of projects. I have a super cute camera box in this class perfect for that gift we all love to give, photographs! Find out more info here.
I have so many holiday ideas I've been wanting to share on the blog, but it's truly been crazy around the Storms household. I hope to have time this week!
In the meantime, you can view some of my previous Christmas posts here. =)
With my chevron obsession still growing daily, I decided to challenge myself to come up with ways to make my own chevron patterns using Fiskars tools. Here are the results!
I love a good crafting challenge! Especially one that results in a fun set of cards to give =).
You can find all of these chevron techniques with step-by-step photos right here.
(And if you need any last-minute Thanksgiving inspiration, check out all of my previous Thanksgiving crafting posts here.)
I'm pretty sure we have entered some sort of time warp, because the calendar is oddly saying that Thanksgiving is next week?? In honor, I have put a new spin on a "stuffed" turkey!
You can find my full tutorial with template, photos, and step-by-step directions right here over at Fiskars.
I created these silly guys based on the classic no-sew knotted fleece pillows and blankets. This is a fun craft for the kids, and a great way to keep them busy on Thanksgiving. My seven year old son and ten year old daughter loved making these and wanted to make more for their friends!
And check out all of my past Thanksgiving posts here. =)
I have seen the cutest bubble wrap advent calendars and decided I had to find a way to incorporate this fun idea into Thanksgiving.
You can find my full tutorial with step-by-step photos here over at the BasicGrey blog.
Pop one each day to count down ways we are thankful until Thanksgiving! Find out how to make your own here.
More Thanksgiving fun to come =).
I had this vision of a clown wig made from yarn pom poms and had no idea how it would actually turn out. I ended up going for it and love the results!
It's super easy but takes time to craft up all of the poms. You can buy little gadgets to make the poms, or there are all kinds of tutorials out there to craft them up on your own.
I do it the old lazy way by wrapping it around your fingers (these poms ranged from about 75 to 100 wraps depending on the kind of yarn), pulling off carefully, knotting another piece of yarn around the center, and cutting through the loops.
Then you end up with a shaggy pom you'll need to give a haircut to round out.
Next I hot glued them in stripes onto a knit cap. I had no idea what I was doing ... just started gluing them in rows and then tried it on my daughter. Once on, I could see a couple of spots that needed to be filled in, so I glued in two more poms. And that was it! Don't you love it when your vision comes to life?
Clowns are fun costumes because you can raid your closet and put together the wackiest stuff you can find. I actually took an old tutu I made for her years ago that I somehow managed to hold onto (you can see the old tutorial here) and replaced many of the tulle strips with more colors of the rainbow and threw in a little black, too.
Now to start planning for next year's costumes. =)
